Baylor Jack and Jane Hamilton Heart and Vascular Hospital Imaging offers a wide variety of technologically advanced tools and equipment that enable us to get a closer look at your heart and vascular system. In our advanced facility, we can diagnose your heart and vascular condition, and ultimately, perform a treatment that is appropriate for you.

Our team is comprised of computed tomography (CT) specialists, radiology imaging specialists, cardiac nurses, and administrative team members. These highly skilled and trained professionals take the time and care to provide you and your family with a quality patient experience. We pride ourselves on our sophisticated imaging equipment; perhaps most notable are our 64-slice CT coronary scans and calcium scoring scans. We were the first department in North Texas with a dedicated cardiac CT and a dedicated 64-slice CT scan. We also have the longest experience with cardiac CT in Texas, and share our experience with other professionals by leading educational workshops for other physicians.

You can order your own calcium scoring scans without a physician's referral. These scans are non-invasive tests used to check for the buildup of cholesterol and calcium on the walls of the arteries in the heart. They can detect heart disease before symptoms even appear. You may wish to order one if you have been having symptoms or if your provider suggests it as an information-gathering option. Calcium scoring is done by performing a CT scan of the chest, which produces hundreds of images. The images are then stored in a computer for later evaluation. As is the case in other CT scans, you will be asked to remove any jewelry and some of your clothing, and you will then lie on a table as the pictures are taken. Calcium scoring is mostly used for patients at medium risk for coronary artery disease because it can provide more information than physical examination and other tests. After the procedure, which typically lasts between 10 and 30 minutes, a registered nurse will discuss your results, what they mean, and next steps, if necessary.
